Managed Backup

Your data is there when you need it, every single time.

In today’s digital landscape, hope is not a viable backup strategy. Between aggressive ransomware attacks, unpredictable hardware failures, and simple human error, your critical business data is constantly under threat.
At OXEN, we believe you shouldn't have to cross your fingers every time you need to restore a file. Our Managed Backup service goes beyond automated software—it’s a comprehensive, heavily monitored, and engineer-backed safety net designed to keep your business running seamlessly.

The OXEN Advantage

Most IT providers will sell you a backup tool. We provide a complete business continuity strategy.
Quarterly integrity validation is standard, not optional.

1
We catch failures before you do

Backup failure alerts go to our engineering team, not just to an inbox. We investigate and remediate the same day, and you hear about it after it's fixed - not when you're in the middle of trying to recover.

2
Every plan starts with a scoping conversation

Backup isn't one-size-fits-all. We assess your recovery objectives, retention requirements, and data volumes before configuring anything. The result is a plan that fits how your business actually operates.

3
Hourly recovery points, 90-day standard retention
Backups run every hour during business hours by default, with each point replicated offsite immediately. Standard configuration retains 90 days of recovery points, local and offsite - with options to extend.

What's Included: True Security, Activated by Default

We blend enterprise-grade technology with hands-on engineering to deliver a backup solution you can trust blindly.
Daily Monitoring and Failure Response
Every backup job is checked every day. If a job fails, an OXEN engineer investigates, fixes the problem, and notifies you of what happened and what was done. You also receive a daily success/failure report across your environment.
Encrypted, Offsite-Replicated Storage
All backup data is encrypted with unique passwords and replicated to cloud storage automatically with each backup run. Even if your office is unreachable, your data is accessible.
Quarterly Integrity Validation

We verify that your backup data is actually restorable on a quarterly basis. Most backup problems are silent - we find them before you need a recovery, not during one.

Local and Cloud Plan Options
Backup plans range from cloud-only protection for desktops to full local-plus-cloud configurations with on-site appliances for faster recovery. Plans are scoped to your environment and recovery requirements.
Immutable Backup Copies
Backup data can be written as immutable copies that cannot be modified or deleted - protection against ransomware and malicious actors targeting your recovery points directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What backup plans are available and how do they differ?

There are three core plans: cloud-only backup (designed for desktops), a local-plus-cloud plan using a NAS device, and a local-plus-cloud plan using an OXEN-owned on-site backup server. The main difference is recovery speed. The on-site appliance options allow systems to be spun up virtually from a local backup while original hardware is being repaired, which dramatically reduces downtime compared to restoring from cloud alone.

How do we get started?

Every Managed Backup engagement starts with a scoping process. We evaluate what systems need protection, how much data you have, how quickly you need to recover, and what your retention requirements are. From that, we design and configure the plan. A scoping conversation is required before any agreement is signed.

How is this priced?

Managed Backup is priced per endpoint or per server, depending on what's being protected. Pricing varies based on the plan tier (cloud-only vs. local-plus-cloud), the storage required, and any customizations such as extended retention or archival. Scoping determines the final configuration and cost.

How is this different from just running Windows Backup or a consumer cloud service?

Consumer and built-in tools aren't monitored - if a backup fails, nobody knows until a restore is attempted. OXEN monitors every backup job daily, responds to failures immediately, verifies integrity quarterly, and stores your data encrypted with offsite replication. Updates, capacity, and health monitoring are all handled for you.

What happens if a backup fails?

An alert goes to our engineering team immediately. An engineer investigates the cause, fixes it, and notifies you of what happened and what was done. You also receive daily backup status reports so you always have visibility into your environment.

Does this include restores?

File and folder restores are included under the agreement, with up to one hour of labor covered. Full system recoveries due to hardware failure, ransomware, or disaster events are handled separately and are not part of the base Managed Backup agreement.

Can we customize retention or add archival?

Yes. Standard retention is 90 days for both local and offsite copies. Retention can be extended, and archival of offsite images can be added to System Backup plans for an additional fee. Air-gapped backup and virtual disaster recovery are also available as customization options.

Does backup guarantee regulatory compliance? Not by default. Compliance with legal, regulatory, or industry-specific mandates requires explicit scoping. We can design a backup plan that supports your compliance requirements, but that needs to be part of the initial conversation.
