Supporting Community Action with Secure, Reliable Technology
Southeast Kansas Community Action Program (SEK-CAP) is a non-profit social service agency created in 1966 to combat poverty in Southeast Kansas. Their services address specific community needs such as housing, utilities, transportation, employment, medical care, child care, education, nutrition, and more.
Over the years, countless SEK-CAP employees, volunteers, and partners have demonstrated commitment and dedication to serving the people and communities of Southeast Kansas. Since 2015, OXEN Technology has been pleased to assist SEK-CAP with their technological needs, in support of their mission.
OXEN stepped in to help SEK-CAP after an infrastructure refresh project was approved. The project needed to move forward in order to not jeopardize funding, but due to recent personnel changes, SEK-CAP’s IT staff needed assistance. OXEN was able to help them implement their project and fill the skill gaps needed to support their new server and network infrastructure with Network Essentials managed services.
To assist with their needs, OXEN did the following:
- Increased Security and Reliability of Server Infrastructure: To secure and stabilize SEK-CAP’s server infrastructure, OXEN Technology implemented remote management services. These include 24/7 monitoring, automated Microsoft updates and security patches, anti-virus/spam services, and performance and management reports.
- Improved Network Performance: We streamlined and consolidated SEK-CAP’s overall network infrastructure design. They formerly had sizable servers for their needs, so we worked with SEK-CAP to reduce their server infrastructure by 50%. This reduced their ongoing maintenance, monitoring, and lifecycle expenses.
- Implemented Business Continuity Solution: And finally, OXEN designed and installed a new local and cloud backup solution with virtualization features for SEK-CAP. This backup solution will minimize downtime in the event of a server failure or disaster and helps protect their data.
In addition to these services, OXEN also provides ongoing technical support and project assistance to SEK-CAP. We look forward to supporting their needs in the future and aligning their IT with their goals!
