Potential Impact of New and Forthcoming U.S. Tariffs

OXEN Technology has recently been asked about the potential impact of new and forthcoming U.S. tariffs on pricing for hardware. Will these tariffs affect the manufacturers of electronics and hardware, and ultimately clients and consumers?

Here is what OXEN Technology is aware of so far:

• There is potential for large price impacts (with little to no warning) if vendors manufacture in or use components manufactured in countries affected by U.S. tariffs, such as China.
• There are no timelines, expected impact amounts, or firm announcements from any manufacturers yet on the tariffs. The tariffs are not expected to affect all manufacturers equally.
• Distributors’ stances are that any price increases due to tariffs will be passed on to consumers with no notice and will not fall under price protection.

There is little firm information available from vendors and manufacturers on how the new tariffs will impact purchases and pricing. However, it is clear that prices are not protected and are subject to change based on the new and pending tariffs. As such, OXEN will not be able to guarantee quoted prices until the time that orders are placed.
